The defender of Konstantin Rudnev, the accused of leading a supposed sect that allegedly sexually exploited women in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche (Río Negro province), accused the Justice of conducting a 'hunt for Russians'. According to an interview that Carlos Broitman gave to Radio 6 and accessed by the Noticias Argentinas agency, the lawyer considered that the Judicial Power of that province detained those involved due to their 'nationality'. 'This is inverting the logic of any serious investigation,' he stated. Regarding Elena Makarova, the woman who wrote a letter in which she expressed 'not feeling like a victim', the lawyer indicated: 'If she says that, the judicial system has the obligation to listen to her'. Rudnev's legal representative also referred to the origin of the case at the Hospital in Bariloche and pointed out: 'The nurse herself admitted that she lied about the baby's discharge and registration'. In this sense, he noted that 'a scenario of suspicion was created that did not correspond to the facts' and gave an example: 'The translator was presented as Brazilian when she is a Russian resident in Brazil'. The defender added: 'The idea that there was a network was installed based on prejudices'. Rudnev will remain in preventive detention at Unit 6 of the Federal Penitentiary Service, located in the city of Rawson. His defender added: 'The possibility of a mitigation with electronic control was evaluated'. 'A hypothesis was created and then they sought how to sustain it'.
